Jeremiah's Letter
Mission Statement:
Jeremiah's Letter, Inc. is a ministry addressing the basic needs of people of all ages in order to help them lead more productive lives.
History of Jeremiah's Letter
In 1978, several inner city Lutheran churches came together to figure out how to most effectively respond to people facing difficult life situations and be faithful stewards of God's resources.
Responding to human brokenness through the Gospel of Christ often requres resources that exceed individual efforts. JLI provides a "partnership" that uses resources more creatively by sharing staff and resources collectivel with area churches.
Jeremiah's Letter Ministries supported by Good Shepherd Lutheran Church --
- Project Blessing uses the facility at St. Paul Lutheran Church every Monday and Wednesday to provide free noontime dinners to anyone in the community. Other resources for clothing, emergency assistance, referral, and spiritual care are also available.
- The Adopt A Family program matches families in need with area donors during Christmas to provide gifts, clothing, and food.
- Through the Hygiene Pantry, cleaning products are available for anyone in need on the 4th Saturday each month.
- The Learning Connection provides inner city youth with self-guided tutoring in reading and math. The program employs individual tutoring, computer programs, and incentive awards to motivate children to excel in school.
