What is a Global Mission Event (GME)?

We want everyone to understand that a GME is a wonderful opportunity to expand your knowledge of the mission work that is happening all over the world. We were invited to our first GME in 1994 by a family member who also happens to be a Lutheran pastor. We honestly had no idea what we were getting ourselves into, but what we found was wonderful music from all overthe globe, unique worship styles compared to what we were used to, and an opportunity to meet and learn from those who work in the mission field, orthose who work with and support missionaries and relief efforts in the world. We continued to attend the GMEs, discussing different ways we could get involved. Then, in the summer of 2000, in Decorah Iowa, we came to the realization that God just might be calling the Smith family to serve as missionaries.

When many people heard that Dan would be doing work in finance and project management, a common question was, "Are you going to be doing any real missionary work?" Those needed for mission positions today include theologians, medical workers, and teachers, but there is a growing need in developing countries for managers, planners, finance people, engineers, agriculturalists, and computer specialists, as churches and communities develop strategies for carrying their mission forward. After all, those who served as missionaries for many decades before us achieved tremendous success in advancing the Gospel.

You are asking why should YOU attend a GME? There are several reasons including:

Your challenge is to Dare to Live God's Promise at one of the following GMEs:

We continue to keep busy. We are doing well and appreciate your support and prayers.
